George was a bus driver in Scotland in 1987. One day he accidentally met with Carla. At that time Carla sneaked into the bus driven by George without paying any fees. Then George was happy to pay it. Although after that he experienced difficulties because he had defended Carla. Carla who was found out for not paying any fees immediately ran away.

Carla then meets George, when George has returned from work. Carla immediately left George when he was making drinks for her. George immediately looked for Carla. After finding it he then invited to drink coffee together. George tried asking lots of things to Carla. However, Carla was hesitant to tell George everything, the person she had just met shortly.

George did not give up to know everything about Carla. He tried to find Carla. Then he found out that Carla was living in a war-torn Nicaragua in exile.

Carla finally wanted to tell everything about her. Starting from the origin until she was looking for someone named Antonio. When Carla looked for a place to stay, George helped her. Finally he found a place for Carla in his friend's flat. 

George also told his best friend, Maureen. If he likes Carla. However, Maureen looked angry. Because George didn't tell about Carla from the start. Even though George always told him everything. Not only that because Maureen likes George. George is just not aware. Then George said, "Even though we're always together, it doesn't mean we can get married," Poor Maureen turns her love unrequited. Just considered a friend or not more.

Suddenly George found Carla covered in blood in the bathroom. It turns out that Carla is trying to end her life. Before it was discovered George was covered in blood in the bathroom Carla apparently read a letter from Antonio. Which she had kept without even reading it. Carla was horrified after reading a letter from Antonio. The news Antonio Carla did not know it. Even the news of his own family Carla didn't know either. 

After being fired from his job. George decided to fly to Nicaragua. Help Carla find the whereabouts of the Antonio and Carla families. There they met with Bradley, a US citizen who worked as an aid worker. Carla always had nightmares of the horrors she had experienced every night. Carla suffered a deep trauma because of the war in her country.

George also discovered the fact that Carla already had children with Antonio. And George invites Carla and her daughter to return to Glasglow so they can live comfortably without any conflict. However, Carla refused.

Bradley also tells about everything. How could Antonio be caught by Contras. The Contras did not just capture Antonio. However, they also treated Antonio cruelly. By breaking Antonio's backbone which made him deformed, his tongue was cut off and his face even doused with acid water. Which makes his face also become deformed. It's really cruel what Contras did to Antonio.

Carla rushed to meet Antonio even though she already knew how things were now. After meeting with Antonio, finally they both sang the song Carla. Accompanied by Antonio who plays his guitar.
