Why Do People Always Have Small Talk/Chit Chat When Meeting The Neighbour ?

Humans are social creatures. Who will always need help from others forever. So it is with Indonesians. In contrast to Western society. Which in fact Western society tends to be individualistic. However, Indonesians tend to be friendly to anyone, even tourist. This is also makes Indonesia known in the eyes of the world as the friendliest country in the top 10. So, why Indonesian people always do chit chat when meeting the neighbors ?.

Since childhood, Indonesians have been taught to be friendly to others. This teaching has been taught from generation to generation. Because indeed Indonesia has a culture to always be friendly to everyone. When meeting people, especially neighbors, they will always say hello, smile or make small talk. A thing that always amazes tourists about this. Because in their country there is no such thing. And this trait is also the main attraction for Indonesia. Actually this is just a small thing. However, the impact so big.

And the other reason is Indonesian people who are always in groups. Most of Indonesians when traveling will always be in groups. And if you are alone there will always be a question "Why you alone?" or "Where are you going?". Indonesians also like to help. When someone else needs help, they will be happy to help. So, chit chat with neighbors will make it easier to get friends and help.

Indonesians like to interact with each other. When they meet on public transportation, they often open up conversations about everything. Especially when meeting tourist from the other country. Indonesians will be happy to explain everything they know about Indonesia. Despite the limitations in language. They will still be happy even with a simple language. And there is a culture of mutual cooperation that is still inherent. This tradition can still be found in various places in Indonesia. Working together in all things is good, of course. When there is a local traditional or traditional ceremony, the Indonesians will work together so that the activity is carried out.
